Rustick Weekender Thorpe and Ilam Loop
Meet: 9.45am for 10am start at Narlow’s Lane car park, Narlow Lane, DE6 2AS (free parking)
Distance: 6 miles, total ascent 660ft (most uphill is at the end of the walk), allow 3 – 4 hours, this includes a coffee/tea break in Ilam
The walk: Thorpe Cloud dominates the view when walking to Lin Dale via Gag Lane and Thorpe Pastures. Crossing the Stepping Stones and passing the Izaak Walton Hotel on our way to Ilam, takes you through some of the Peak District’s finest countryside.
In Ilam we will visit the Manifold Tea Room for refreshments.
The return walk takes you, via St Bertrand’s Bridge, to Blore, while we have lovely views and then down to Coldwall Bridge. Following part of the Limestone Way, it is uphill to Thorpe, from where another uphill country lane leads us to the Tissington Trail and back to the car park.

Please bring water & snacks, also waterproofs & layers.
Gear: 1 with going uphill on the return from Ilam
Cows on Thorpe Pastures, in fields around the Izaak Walton Hotel and in fields along the Manifold river and the Dove
Stiles: 6 squeeze and step-over stiles
No toilets at start of walk (pub opens at 11.30am) Toilets at Dovedale car park after 45-60 min, 20p coin needed to go in
We can go for lunch/drinks to the pub after we come back.
