Y garn and the Devils Kitchen adventure walk
A great mountain walk visiting Llyn Idwal and ascending through the Devils Kitchen to Y Garn Summit at 750m (3107 feet).
Meeting at the Ogwen Cottage car parking / cafe / Wc’s we will ascend on a good path up to the Nature Reserve of Llyn Idwal. walking alongside the Llyn we ascend on a rocky and at times steep path up past the Devil’s Kitchen ( a rocky chimney cleft high in the mountain side). This takes us up to open grassy high mountain tundra before the final grassy path ascending to Y Garn summit. We continue over the summit with the possibility (dependant on weather) to ascend another easy grassy summit Foel Goch. We descend, steeply in places on rocky and grassy paths and slopes with superb views (weather allowing) of the surrounding high mountains of the Ogwen valley.
This is a full on mountain day and enough food and drink will need to carried for the day. Full waterproofs, extra clothing layers, hats and gloves and good footwear (boots) are required for this walk. Due to the time of year, it is suggested that you may consider bringing a torch (headtorch preferable) in case of beng delayed during the day.
This event is led by Bob Evans , of Artemis Nordic Walking , an experienced Mountain Leader
