Join us for an amazing weekend at the southern tip of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty, where you will be staying in unique luxury accommodation, and your every Nordic wish will be catered for!… whether you choose to relax in your accommodation’s hot tub or sauna or join us for some Nordic walking technique refresher training or experience a walk which will include some Tai Chi or Mindfulness. It’s a mini-festival feast of Nordic Walking, and we can only take 12 people in the Chalets… so do not miss out!
The weekend begins Friday at noon and finishes Sunday at around 4pm, so you will have Sunday evening to ‘relax and do your own thing’, before returning home on Monday.
Price: £315 per person. This includes 3 nights luxury accommodation, and a full itinerary of guided walks, instruction, and other experiences!
Accommodation in luxury and unique Alpine style Chalets (newly built and totally Nordic – they are PERFECT! These stunning Chalets are positioned just 3 miles outside of Ilkley, on a beautiful stretch of the River Wharfe, part of The Dales Way national long distance trail (which runs from Ilkley to Bowness-on-Windermere). These magnificent Chalets have gorgeous views of the surrounding countryside and hills, and they are about an 8 minute drive from the centre of Ilkley or a 4 minute drive from the magnificent and historic Bolton Abbey (founded in 1154, technically a Priory).
Each self-catering Chalet takes 4 persons and has a large open plan lounge/kitchenette, 2 bedrooms (twin or double), tv, sauna and outside hot tub on the balcony! There is room for 2 cars to park at each Chalet. Further street parking is possible on Bark Lane, which is a short walk away.
Rooms are all shared occupancy (double or twin). At time of booking, please advise if you are coming with friends so that we can allocate you a room together, otherwise you will be allocated a bed on a first come first served basis.
The site also has an onsite café, open from 9am to 4pm Wednesdays to Sundays.
Check-in to your accommodation is officially 3pm, but the owners will do their best to have your accommodation ready for you much earlier if possible. Please note that our itinerary does begin from 12pm for those who would like some Nordic walking training, or from 1:15pm for our Meet & Greet. Please advise us as soon as possible of your anticipated arrival time.
On arrival, park right next to your Chalet, and then relax in the onsite café, or come and take part in a Beginner’s Nordic Walking lesson if you are new to Nordic Walking, or some Nordic walking technique refresher training if you are already a regular Nordic walker!
12pm: Beginner’s Learn to Nordic walk instruction if you are a wannabe Nordic walker!
Poles will be provided for the weekend.
12pm: Nordic walking technique refresher training for current Nordic walkers, if you would like to brush up on your technique.
1:15pm: Please join us for a Meet & Greet inside the café, where we will treat you to some light refreshments before heading out for our first Nordic walk of the weekend…
PM: A guided walk of approx 5m. Stiles, gates, hills – glorious views!
Alternatively some of you may just prefer a 2m ‘there & back’ Nordic stroll along the beautiful River Wharfe.
EVG: Dinner booking at an Ilkley restaurant: The Vine (Italian). http://www.vineilkley.co.uk/menus/ There is free car parking in Ilkley town centre after 6pm. The Bar T’at pub (or others) is available for pre-dinner drinks – it’s just across the car park from the restaurant.
AM: A guided morning walk at the beautiful Bolton Abbey Estate, a favourite with locals and visitors to the area. We will have a longer option of 7m or 8m as well as a shorter 4m option. You choose which you want to join!
Pathways through woodland (a few short steep sections) and fields, stops as desired, and a visit to the magnificent Bolton Abbey.
PM: A short walk with Tai chi experience! (approx. 1hr)
EVG: Dinner booking in an Ilkley restaurant – Bistrot Pierre (French) https://bistrotpierre.co.uk/menus
AM: A guided walk around 2 stunning local reservoirs. A choice of 6.5m (walk both reservoirs), or 3.5m (walk one reservoir). Glorious reservoir views and woodland paths.
PM: A walk with mindfulness – approx 3m

MONDAY – if you want more walking…

Just to be clear, what is NOT included?
• All meals and snacks and drinks (other than the Welcome refreshments on Friday). We will make reservations at local restaurants for Friday and Saturday evenings (and be taking pre-orders), but please advise if you do not want to join us for dinner.
• Your Travel to/from Ilkley, and your travel to our walk venues (car sharing an option).
• Travel insurance
That’s it – everything else is laid on for you, so simply get yourself there, check in to your luxury holiday accommodation, and then relax as you don’t have to plan a thing – simply expect a fun itinerary of Nordic walking and much more, and you can just be as active or as lazy as you want to be!
Fitness Level, and Clothing
We grade this trip at moderate with some more difficult sections. You will need to have a reasonable level of fitness as we will be out for several hours of the day. Prior to the holiday we will issue you with a kit and clothing check list.
Minimum and Maximum Numbers
This trip will run once a minimum of 8 clients have booked and paid their deposit before February 2019. We can accommodate a maximum of 12 persons in the 3 Chalets, that’s 4 persons per Chalet.

If you choose not to attend any of our walks, then why not enjoy your luxury Chalet, perhaps have a sauna or hot tub experience… or drive into Ilkley town centre to browse the shops there, where you will even find one of the famous Yorkshire Betty’s tea shops!
High above Ilkley on Ilkley Moor are the famous Cow and Calf rocks – make sure you visit these famous landmarks to see the incredible views over Ilkley and the Wharfe Valley. There is a café and a pub available here too.
Alternatively, Skipton town centre is also close by and you could take a visit to Skipton castle or have a leisurely walk along the towpath or up through Skipton Castle woods.
Sunday evening – you could try The Fleece Inn in the centre of Addingham – it’s just a short walk from the Chalets, or there are many quality restaurants in Ilkley, or other local pubs in the area.
Other suggestions a little further afield…
Brimham Rocks – an enduring natural spectacle… strangely shaped rocks formed 320 million years ago – a stunning landscape and unrivalled view.
Fountains Abbey & Studley Royal Water Garden near Ripon/Harrogate, or Harewood House near Leeds
Or visit Salts Mill at Saltaire, close to Bradford – set in a former textile mill is an exclusive shopping and history/museum/art gallery (David Hockney paintings) experience!
Stump Cross Caverns in Nidderdale, near Harrogate
Malham Cove – a huge curving amphitheatre shaped cliff formation of limestone rock sited up the Dale – beautiful walks.
The City of Leeds is just 25 mins on the train from Ilkley town centre.
